Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Resource Development, Government of India. NVS runs a system of alternate schools for talented and gifted students of India called as Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs).

These schools were established to find the talented children from rural areas of the country and to provide them quality education so that they can compete without facing any disadvantages with their urban counterparts on an equal footing.

All the JNVs are co-educational and fully residential schools. These schools are affiliated to CBSE.

Class VI Admission Procedure

1 Age : Born between 01 – 05 – 2013 to 31 – 07 – 2015 (Both dates are inclusive)
2 Eligibility : Studying Class V & Only the bonafide resident candidates from the district concerned.
3 No of attempts : Only One
4 Mode of Exam : Off-line (OMR – based)
5 Medium of Q.P : Any language out of 21 languages.
6 Question Type : Multiple Choice Based (M.C.Q’s)
7 Reservation : OBC → 27% ; S.C → 15%; S.T → 7.5%
8 Subjects : Mental Ability, Arithmetic, & Language
9 Exam Duration : Two Hours and for Divyang students (differently abled students) 30 minutes extra.
10 Exam Date : Saturday, 18th January, 2025 at 11:30 A.M
11 Negative Mark : No negative mark
12 Max.Marks for each correct Answer : 1.25 Marks
13 Last Date to apply online : 16th September, 2024.

Syllabus

  • Mental Ability Test (MAT)

Odd-man out; Figure Matching; Pattern Completion; Figure Series Completion; Analogy; Geometrical Figure Completion (Triangle, Square, Circle etc.); Mirror Imaging; Punched Hold Pattern – Folding / Unfolding; Space Visualization; & Embedded Figures.

  • Arithmetic Test

Number and numeric system; Four fundamental operations on whole numbers; Fractional number and four fundamental operations on them; Factors and multiples including their properties; LCM and HCF of numbers; Decimals and fundamental operations on them; Conversion of fractions to decimals and vice-versa; Measurement of length, mass, capacity, time, money etc.; Distance, time and speed; Approximation of expressions; Simplification of Numerical Expressions; Percentage and its applications; Profit and Loss; Simple Interest; Perimeter, area and volume.

  • Language Test
    • The main purpose of this test is to assess reading comprehension of the candidates.
    • The test consists of four passages.
    • Each passage is followed by 5 questions.
    • Candidate shall read each passage carefully and answer the questions that follow.

Instructions

  • Only the candidates from the district concerned where the JNV has been opened are eligible to apply for admission.
  • A candidate appearing for the selection test must be studying in Class V.
  • A candidate claiming admission under rural quota must have studied and passed Classes III, IV & V in a school located in rural area only.
  • Candidate who has not been promoted and admitted to class – V before 15thSeptember, 2024 is not eligible to apply.
  • No candidate is eligibleto appear in the selection test for the second time, under any circumstances.
  • At least 75% of the seats in a district will be filled by candidates selected from rural areas of the district and remaining seats will be filled from the urban areas of the district.
  • No separate reservation for transgender candidates and they included in Boys category for reservation purpose.
  • Reservation: OBC → 27% ; S.C → 15%; S.T → 7.5%
  • Only Blue / Black Ball Point is to be used to write on the OMR Sheet.
  • Use of pencil is strictly prohibited.
