Sainik Schools
The Comity of 28 Sainik Schools are premier educational institutions in the country imparting Military oriented education to the Cadets. The mission of these schools is to prepare the cadets academically, physically and mentally to enter the portals of the National Defence Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and other walks of life.
The Schools are residential public schools for boys functioning under the aegis of Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence under Government of India.
The objectives of these schools:
- To remove regional imbalance in the officer cadre of the Defence Services.
- To develop qualities of body, mind and character which will enable the young boys of today to become good and useful citizens of tomorrow.
- To bring public school education within the reach of the common man.
- Sainik Schools not just prepare the students for their entry into the Indian armed forces but also inculcate discipline in their lives. They learn to be independent, be physically active, do good in sports and focus on their goals for life.
Reservation
- 67% of the seats in each Sainik School will be reserved for boys from the state in which the Sainik School is located.
- Balance 33% seats will be thrown open to boys from other States and Union Territories in the ratio of their male population.
- 15% of the total seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribes.
- 25% of seats are reserved for Children of Service Personnel including Ex-Servicemen.
- In case the required SC/ST/DEF candidates are not available, the vacancies will be filled in by General Category candidates.
