Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS)
Rashtriya Military Schools were established by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India in 1925 for providing quality education to sons of Defence Personnel and Civilians from classes VI to XII. Formerly these schools were known as King George VI Royal Indian Military Colleges. At present, there are five Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS) in India located at Chail in the Shimla Hills of Himachal Pradesh, Ajmer and Dholpur in Rajasthan, Belgaum and Bengaluru in Karnataka. Cadets are admitted into Class VI & IX through a Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted under the aegis of the Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Army).
The schools are category ‘A’ establishment of the Army and are administrated by the Directorate General of Military Training at IHQ of MOD(Army). The Central Governing Council(CGC), headed by the Defence Secretary, Ministry of Defence is the apex body for these schools.
